Very contemporary exterior. Inside / Lobby: -Custom terrazzo patterned floor in three shades - taupe, black and gold accents -Registration desk is black granite desktop with custom granite lamps -Wall behind desk is curved in custom painted Venetian finish with custom designed carved art glass panel -Desk, bar and wall banquettes are in a burl wood finish -Custom curved settee is upholstered with throw pillows in jewel tones and separates the lobby from the bar area -Windows are in a silk iridescent sheer with a wide stripe design -Registration area and lounge are open together with a partial/shoulder-high divider made of burl wood and glass

  • Coming from your airport terminal follow the signs toward "Airport Exit". Head towards the "Sumner tunnel" and rt. 93 north. Once your in the tunnel get into the left lane. At the end of the tunnel head towards Government Center. As you are coming up the ramp get into the left lane heading towards Government Center. At the end of the ramp take a left onto New Chardon St. Take a right at the set of lights onto Merrimac St. (You will see a Mobil station on your right hand side at this point.) Just after the parking lot, bear right onto Portland St. Once you are on Portland St. you will cross the intersection of "Valenti Way" and just after that the Onyx will be on your right hand side at 155 Portland St. (If you look up you will notice the "Onyx Hotel" banners.)
  • Go to Ground transportation on the lower level. Take Shuttle to Airport Station. Once at Airport (Blue line) Station, take the subway to Government Center Stop. Switch over to the green line (upper level) to the North Station Stop. Exit North Station onto Causeway St. , make a left on Causeway St. and make your third left onto Portland St. End at 155 Portland St.

BICYCLING AND WALKING There are a number of scenic bicycle trails in the area. The emerald necklace (617-635-4505) traverses nine parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted (who also designed New York City's Central Park) and Charles Eliot. The Dr. Paul Dudley White Charles River bike path follows the river for nearly 17 miles, winding from Watertown Square to the Museum of Science. Boston is a pedestrian's dream, a city to be savored intimately, one step at a time. The freedom trail, Black Heritage Trail and Harborwalk are self-guided tours that lead visitors past famous historical sites. Walking tours and maps are provided by the National Park Service (617-242-5642). Boston Park Ranger tours (617-635-7383) guide visitors through Boston Common, the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, Emerald Necklace and more. PRO SPORTS There's no doubt about it - when it comes to professional sports, Boston has all the bases covered. The Boston Red Sox (617-267-1700) at Fenway Park, home of the infamous left-field wall known as the Green Monster. The AFC East Football powerhouse New England Patriots (508-543-1776) hit the gridiron at Foxboro Stadium, 45 minutes south-west of Boston. The NHL Boston Bruins, winners of five Stanley Cups, take to the ice at TD Banknorth Garden, which also serves as home to the 16-time NBA champion Boston Celtics, a club that has been graced with some of the most potent lineups of all time.
